Communication is language

THINK LIKE A WISE MAN BUT COMMUNICATE IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE PEOPLE. This quote borrowed from ‘William Butler Yeats’, implies that communication and language are not the same. Despite being interrelated to each other, communication and language have got some considerable dissimilarities.

Communication

A process of coding which is used to exchange information or express feeling is what communication is defined as. The main focus of communication is on feelings. The way of manifesting emotions plays an important role in

communicating. To be conveyed, communication needs some media. These media include painting, music, etc which transmit the encoded message by their signals. People are influenced by these media accidentally or intentionally. Nature itself is one of the accidental influences. A wooden cottage in a quiet moor can recover composure better than talking to a psychiatrist and also a suite could be an intentional influence, like the song ‘Adagio in G Minor’ by ‘Albioni ‘that is far more influential to express despondency than a novel about melancholy. People choose a medium depending on their background, social class or training in order to have more efficiency in their messages. As an example, for a musician, using a song to arouse a feeling is definitely more efficient than painting.

Language

Needless to say, that language is the greatest and the most fantastic invention of human and also the most fundamental medium for communication. Although there have been numerous debates about the philosophy of language, it is clear that language is a complex tool with different usages. The first usage is basic needs like children’s requests, when they want water, food, toy, etc. The other application of this medium is to transform an abstract concept such as emotion to a concrete and conceivable idea. There are some ideas which are difficult to be conceptualized without language. Never can the idea of ‘right’ be discussed in a court of law with nonverbal medium. It is indubitably impossible to defend an innocent’s right in court through watching a movie or looking at a painting. Also, discussing the concept of ‘freedom’ needs the existence of effective words not a song. Language accords emphasis to the words, whereas the main focus of communication is on feelings or emotions. By using nonverbal media, these ideas are conveyed universally.

Conclusion

Language is a subcategory of communication including a system of grammar, meaning, words, that is standardized accordingly to location and religious principles to be used by two people to convey information to one another.

Communication is any form by which two people exchange information. A person without saying anything can communicate, by gestures or making sounds. Even giving somebody a wink can convey your message.
